Lion named Boniface helps conserve wild animals

On December 21-22, WWF, the Amur Tiger Center, Primorsky and Khabarovsky Provinces Departments held a regular seminar on minimization conflicts between humans and wild large predators of the Russian Far East.

The two-days-long event was conducted in the rehab center near Ussuriisk and in the Sadgorog Zoo not far from Vladivostok. To train the conflicts groups’ rangers the Zoo lion Boniface was sedated and thoroughly examined by the vets. The rangers were taught how to do the sedation, how to take all necessary measurements and medical tests, how to provide basic life support for wild animals in case of emergency. As were noted by rangers, they have good skills in hunting and tracking but very poor medicinal knowledge this consider the seminar to be very useful.
