WHO ARE WE

World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is one of the largest independent international environmental organizations, uniting about 5 million regular supporters and operating in more than 100 countries.

The first project in the former USSR, the creation of the Great Arctic Reserve, was financed by WWF in 1989. Five years later, the Foundation opened its representative office in Russia, and in 2004 the World Wildlife Fund became a national organization.

During this time, more than 1 000 field projects aimed at preserving the nature of Russia were implemented. With the participation of the Foundation: more than 52 million hectares of unique territories have been granted conservation status, the bison and the Asiatic leopard have been returned to the wild, the Amur tiger and Far Eastern leopard populations have been restored, the snow leopard and argali in the Altai have been preserved, the "Bear Patrols" have been created in the Arctic, important changes have been made in the Criminal Code.

WHAT DO WE DO

WWF preserves rare species of animals that are threatened with extinction - the Amur tiger, the Far Eastern and the Asiatic leopards, the polar bear, the snow leopard, the Atlantic walrus, the bison, the mountain sheep argali, etc. We help protect unique wild territories by creating reserves, sanctuaries, national parks and protected areas.

Working with government, business, expert organizations and local communities, we strive to change the attitude of humans to nature. Among the main areas of WWF Russia's work are: conservation of biological diversity, sustainable forest management, sustainable marine fisheries, climate and energy, green economy.

WWF's mission is to create conditions for a harmonious coexistence of humans and nature, as well as to prevent the growing degradation of the natural environment of the planet.

The main goal is to preserve the biological diversity of the Earth.

WHERE DO WE WORK

The WWF Russia offices are located in Moscow, Krasnodar, Krasnoyarsk, Murmansk, Arkhangelsk, Vladivostok and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

HOW ARE WE FUNDED

More than half of the Fund's global budget is made up of donations from private individuals - WWF supporters. There are more than 5 million people in the world, in Russia their number is growing every year, and you can join!

Many people think that it is difficult and expensive to engage in charity, but in reality it is not. The status of a WWF adherent will be received upon making a charitable contribution of at least 900 rubles (one-time or having issued a monthly debit). Even small amounts from a large number of supporters can solve great problems.

Every year WWF publishes reports of its work and budget. Everyone can read them; reports are available on the website.
