Hunting societies of Russian Far East have to be ready to save ungulates

14 december 2009
Primorye. Fortunately the first snow fall has not become a disaster for wild ungulates. But WWF-Russia draws attention of game users to be ready for a new freak of nature.

This time the snow depth was not critical for ungulates. As they say, this is “good” snow and it will “sink” very quickly. Moreover, under these conditions leopards and tigers have more chances to successfully prey ungulates. There are some problems in the areas where after snow fall and rain that followed thin crust of ice over snow covered the ground. For the first time Hunting Department for Primorskii Province issued a letter to these areas game users forbidding collective hunting and hunt with dogs.
