Gray whales: Ambiguous plans.

On 30 April Sakhalin Energy company (its principal stockholder is Shell transnational corporation) which is engaged in development of shelf deposits off the shore of Sakhalin declared its intention to reconsider the time schedule for construction of underwater pipelines under the project Sakhalin-2 at Piltun-Astokh deposit “due to the necessity of additional technical measures intended at ensuring minimal negative effect on Okhotsky-Korean (west) population of gray whales”.
