A virtual museum began its work in the Katon-Karagaiskiy National Park

02 july 2009
First virtual museum was created in the single national park in Kazakhstanian Altai within the WWF Program “Protected Areas for a Living Planet”

In autumn 2008 Michael Yurchenkov, head of the ETIS international group of companies, presented a project of virtual trips developed with account of recent achievements in 3D map-making and multimedia technologies. Such trips look impressive – flights in the 3D space of real landscapes accompanied by a narrative; films about tourist sites of NP; interactive views etc. An agreement on the creation of such virtual programs for the visit-centers of the Kazakhstanian Altai PAs was made. And in July 2009 the first virtual museum began its work.

Now in the visit-center of the Katon-Karagaiskiy NP every nature enthusiast can “make” an exciting excursion to the protected territory, “go” through its ecological paths, and get information on flora and fauna of the park, its nature and cultural monuments. The same virtual museum will also be created for the Markakol’skiy Zapovednik.
