The “Kuznetskiy Alatau” Zapovednik hosted an eco-camp

07 august 2009
Kids from WWF Kids Club “Irbis” took part in the project “Fellowship School “Challenge” organized by the “Kuznetskiy Alatau” Zapovednik with financial support from WWF

This spring the “Kuznetskiy Alatau” Zapovednik became one of the winners in the WWF small grants’ contest “Changing life for the better! Problems of the protected areas: non-trivial steps and innovative solutions”. Within this grant Zapovednik plans to implement a project “Fellowship School “Challenge” aimed at the formation of Zapovednik’s positive image, resolution of conflict with local communities and professional orientation of the youth living next to the protected area.

From 21st July till 1st August the “Kuznetskiy Alatau” received kids from Kemerovo, Mezdurechensk, Topki and Belogorsk villages. The main goals of the eco-camp were the distribution of the information about Zapovednik and the involvement of local kids in the work in Zapovednik.

During 12 days of the eco-camp kids became acquainted with the unique nature of Zapovednik and its’ people. Besides they tried their hands in different fields: studied the methods of nature researches, collected materials for their own works, addressed a conference, took part in the raids together with the rangers, conducted educational campaigns with the Belogorsk villagers, equipped an ecological path and run excursions. Every day was full of different events – lections, trainings, games and competitions and much-much more!
