WWF-Russia announced the winners of “LAURA” AWARD FOR YOUNG ECOLOGISTS

On the World Environment Day WWF-Russia names the winners of the “Laura” award for young professionals in the field of nature conservation

Anna Loseva, project expert of the Public Council of the Southern Shore of the Gulf of Finland at Decomission LLC and researcher of the Nizhne-Svir State Nature Reserve, receives the prize for the first place. Anna has done a lot of work on the improvement and conservation of a number of protected areas, and is also the author of publications on environmental topics in the newspaper "St. Petersburg Vedomosti".

The second place goes to Alexey Ivanov, Head of the Department of Tourism, Recreation and Environmental Education of the State Budgetary Institution of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) "Directorate of Biological Resources, Specially Protected Natural Territories and Natural Parks". Alexey optimized the work of 150 inspectors who work on the territory of 130 regional protected areas, participated in extinguishing fires in Yakutia in 2020-2021, was part of the “Bear Patrol”, organized supervisory activities in regional protected areas.


The third place among the applicants for the “Laura” award was shared by two young specialists:

Evgeny Bulgakov, Head of the Horse Reintroduction Center Przhevalsky Federal State Budgetary Institution "Reserves of Orenburg region". Specialists of the center have been engaged in the restoration of an extinct species for many years. 

And Anna Gnetneva, Senior Specialist of the Postgraduate Department of the Zoological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Anna helps to raise and support turtles in the Dodo Ecological Center, creates educational videos, and in 2021 became one of the initiators and main performers of the project "Red Book? Not for sale!" as an expert herpetologist.
