PRESIDENT'S GIFT FOR DAY OF ECOLOGIST IN RUSSIA
"The Fund's success and achievements come from the work of many people across Russia — from Kamchatka to the Barents Sea. Every day, over 130 of our colleagues work to help Russian nature, cooperate with authorities, and get support from businesses and the public. In 2019, the Fund turns 25 years, that's why the note of gratitude from the President, which we received today, is especially important for us," said Victoria Elias, Program Director for WWF-Russia. "Over the quarter of a century, WWF-Russia has implemented over 1,000 field projects in 47 regions. 140 nature reserves, national parks, and other federal and regional specially protected areas have been created with the Fund's support and cover the total area of 54 million ha. Working with our partners, we have managed to reverse the decline of rare species. We are confident that the only way to save our nature is by joining our efforts. We highly appreciate the trust of our high-ranking colleagues, and we are grateful for their acknowledgment of our work. The Fund would not have achieved what we have managed to without the entire environmental community. We congratulate all ecologists on their professional holiday, and we hope we can do even more in the future."
