Eight hundred kids attended the “Save Kamchatka Nature” festival

17 march 2017
Eco-educational festival, supported by WWF, visited two districts of Kamchatka.

Schoolkids from Elizovsky and Milkovsky districts in Kamchatka participated in eco-educational festival conducted by the members of nature conservation organizations. Volunteers and staff members of “Kamchatka Volcanoes” Natural park and Kronotsky preserve conducted about 50 classes for children of primary and secondary school.

“Our classes with kids don’t look like classical lessons. They are more like conversations, workshops, quizzes, and stage shows in which children play the key part”, says Elena Krasilnikova, the head of uncommercial partnership “Informational tourist center of Elizovsky municipal district”, who has been organizing this kind of festival for five years by now.

There are hundreds of schoolchildren in larger settlements, but there are also classes in remote villages where only two kids study. Anyway, “Save Kamchatka Nature” festival is equally anticipated both by volunteers and kids in every school of the peninsula. The total number of children who already attended the classes is 870.
