7.5 TONS OF FODDER FOR BISONS WERE PURCHASED FOR THE WINTER
With the onset of cold weather and the fall of deep snow in the mountains, bisons of the Arkhyz group habitually descend down to the feeding grounds. The latter are equipped for a comfortable stay of bisons in winter and allow them to keep most of the livestock in a protected area. Only individual males, following their instincts, are looking for new habitats, mastering territories outside the national park.
In addition to hay, mixed fodder is also purchased for feeding the animals. This time 7.5 tons of treats were stored and delivered. The fodder has been shipped to the feeding grounds. On the main site, it is stored in a special storage facility built earlier with the assistance of WWF-Russia, the other part was placed in a hay storage directly in a trapping enclosure built this year."Compound fodder will be used not only for winter feeding, but also in the very near future to attract and catch bisons, which will be relocated to Turmonskiy Sanctuary at the beginning of next year", - says Roman Mnatsekanov, Senior Project Coordinator of Russian Caucasus Ecoregional Office WWF-Russia.
