THE OPENING OF A PHOTO EXHIBITION DEDICATED TO SAIGA WAS HELD IN ASTRAKHAN REGION

The grand opening of the photo exhibition "Saving the saiga together" took place in the Limanskiy district of Astrakhan region. The exposition is part of the eponymously-named WWF project , which became the winner of the Presidential Grunts Fund competition. The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the administration of the Limanskiy district, the executives of Astrakhan Region Nature Management Supervision Service and the state reserve "Stepnoi".
The photo exhibition "Saving saiga together" gathered more than 150 schoolchildren and guests from all over the district at the community center of Liman village. The exhibition includes 80 photographs depicting animals of the steppe of the northwest Pre-Caspian region and, in particular, the Red Data Book antelope – saiga. WWF-Russia has been engaged in the preservation of the relict animal since 2018.
The works of the best animal photographers of Russia, Astrakhan Region and Kalmykia, as well as the the Wildlife Photographers Association are presented among the photos. The unique photos were taken on the territory of the northwest Pre-Caspian region, where the only Russian saiga population, numbering about 7000 individuals, lives.In addition to photos and excursions, a creative
program about saiga and the importance of its preservation was prepared for the
guests of the event. Musical and artistic performances were shown by the guys
from the steppe center "Vozrojdeniye" in the Limanskiy district.
In the community center of Liman village, the exhibition will last until May 20. Everyone will be able to visit the exhibition for free. After that, the photo exhibition will go to the settlements of the Limanskiy district.
