Forest inspectors and policemen perfected their qualification
at the request of the Inter-district Nature Protection Prosecutor Office.
25 attendees, out of which 12 state forest inspectors from the Primorsky Province Forestry Department, 12 men from the Regional Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and one officer of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were trained on how to define timber, timber products, and their volumes. Over the last three years, these were the fifth courses in a row organized by WWF.
The decision to upgrade the forest inspectors’ qualification to assess the timber volumes was made in November 2015 at a round table held in Primorye at the Inter-district Nature Protection Prosecutor Office.
According to the courses organizers, the knowledge gained will help revealing and preventing timber harvesting in excess of allowable cuts.
