Since the presentation of the 4th National Report, the significance of the biodiversity and ecosystem services to the Russian population has hardly changed. The share of industries that rely on biological products, biodiversity resources and natural ecosystems was about 4% in gross value added, with agriculture, hunting and forestry accounting for 3.8% and fishing and fish farming accounting for 0.2%. For comparison, extraction of resources, which is usually harmful to natural ecosystems, comprised 10.9% of the gross value added.
